What is Our Commitment to Your Property?

Our commitment to your property goes beyond a piece of paper. If we install your termite system, we provide a renewable 12-month Free Service Period, provided you keep your annual inspections and service schedule up to date with us. If termites breach our system during that time, we will inspect and rectify the issue at no charge, just as we have since 2008.

Our Commitment to you. Termite Treatment Guarantee (Free Service Period). Free service periods are issued on a 12-month basis from the date of completion of the chemical termite management system and extendable for an additional 12 months at the time of an annual termite inspection (cost is incurred for annual termite inspection) being carried out.

The free service period will remain current when the annual termite inspection has been arranged with us by you and carried out within 12 months of the last annual termite inspection and the chemical reapplications to the installed termite management system have been carried out at the recommended intervals as stated by Northern Rock Pest Control on your certificate of treatment/installation. If active termites are found after the completion of a termite management system or within a current free service period and termites have been proven to have gained entry via bridging or breaching of the installed termite management system, then we will, free of charge, carry out a visual termite inspection to determine the termite entry point(s) and carry out any remedial work required to rectify the termite ingress issue.

No free service periods are offered for termite ingress at unprotected areas of structure. The free service period does not include any repairs or replacement to damaged timbers or building structural elements/fixtures/furniture/personal items, or any financial loss because of termite attack.

Your responsibility: It is your responsibility to ensure termite inspections are conducted at intervals prescribed by Northern Rock Pest Control, as outlined in your most recent termite inspection report. Any conducive conditions and recommendations in these reports must be addressed for free service periods or warranties to remain valid. If we report any live termites within 50 metres of the protected structure or property boundary (whichever is closer) during a termite inspection, the termite activity must be treated to maintain the validity of the free service period or warranty.

If you suspect termite activity before your next scheduled inspection, you must immediately inform us. It is crucial not to disturb the treated areas. Do not disturb or make building alterations in the chemically treated zone without consulting us, as any disturbance or breach of the installed termite barrier will void any free service periods or warranties offered.

Northern Rock usually schedules pre-purchase termite inspections across Darwin and the Top End within 2 to 3 business days. After the onsite assessment, we deliver your detailed, defensible termite inspection report within 24 to 48 hours, so you have the documentation you need ahead of your settlement deadline.
For a Top End property the inspection that matters most is the termite inspection, because termites are the pest that causes the expensive, hidden structural damage that home insurance usually will not cover. A Northern Rock pre-purchase termite inspection focuses on termite activity, termite risk, and the conducive conditions that invite them, and reports it in a form you can take to settlement.
A termite inspection looks for termite activity, termite risk, and conducive conditions like moisture and poor ventilation. A building inspection looks at structure: roofing, plumbing, electrical and the like. They are two different assessments, and most Top End buyers commission both before signing. Northern Rock does the termite side, which on a Top End purchase is usually the bigger financial risk.
Yes. Because our technician needs access to the property, the seller or their agent has to be informed. Northern Rock can coordinate the booking directly with the real estate agent to keep it low-friction and to keep your settlement timeline on track.
Yes. If the seller can produce paperwork for an existing termite management system, our inspectors review it and tell you whether the next renewal is overdue, due soon, or up to date. If there is no paperwork, we inspect for visible signs of an installed system and flag the documentation gap in your report, so you can factor it into your negotiation.
Start with professional baiting. Northern Rock places tamper-resistant bait stations in the roof void and the other areas the rats are using, then returns within 21 days to check uptake and replenish. Roof rats are strong climbers that favour roof spaces and fruit trees in the Top End, so treating the roof and the yard together gives the best result. Book online and we will get out to you.
